As I wrote recently, a neighbourhood in a good friend's Palestinian town, Majd al-Kurum, has seen the Israelis issue demolition orders against up to a hundred Palestinians now threatened with homelessness.
I've now written a full article about it, but will be aiming to generate more awareness, too. In conversations with residents, I learned that some of those facing demolitions have building certifications for their houses that date to both the British Mandate Palestine period, and even Ottoman paperwork. The Israeli project and its legal fictions were of course foisted on these families only in 1948, decades and more after the homes were built and became owned.
I wrote the article for Novara Media in the UK, a first with them, so please do click through to read more.
And as always, a big thanks to paying subscribers here, who help facilitate me making these pitches and writing these stories in what is often a reluctant media landscape, to say the least, and where censorship is prevalent.
Pending all that, I hope to be able to update with other new writing on Palestine in the coming weeks.
