A brief update here to share a new article for DAWN. While I've written for them before on a number of subjects, I wanted with my current trip to help tie-in their work (Democracy in the Arab World Now, begun after the murder of Jamal Khashoggi by Saudi Arabia (helped by Israeli spyware) with the movement for Palestine - both Arab heritage and not at all - that I've found throughout my many Latin American kilometres so far.
The above was painted on a hill over Valparaíso, the below on an old building, but suffice to say that Palestinian solidarity is everywhere. In general it travels firmly alongside the resistance to US interference in Latin America over the decades, but it is when you find yourself watching football highlights, in which Santiago team Deportivo Palestino are playing, that you realise just how normalised the Palestinian community and story is in Latin America, particularly Chile.
I hope you find the article of interest. Thanks as ever to Köprü subscribers whose support helps me make time to contribute to magazines like DAWN that I like a lot but I don't always find time to write for.
